An absolutely delicious twist to a all time classic. The saffron is a great addition to this recipe it really elevates the taste.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of popcorn kernels
- 1 cup of hard caramel candy
- 10 strands of Saffron, ground or 1/4 teaspoon of saffron extract
- 1 tablespoons of butter
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Grab a medium or large nonstick skillet. You will also need a glass bowl that can fit on top of the pot like a lid.
- Over medium heat, melt the caramel, butter and saffron. Once melted sprinkle the salt on top.
- Add the popcorn kernels. and cover with the bowl.
- You will see and hear the popcorn as it begins to pop. Within five minutes or less the piping should begin to significantly slow down.
- Remove from heat by using oven mitt and flipping the pan over holding the bowl upright.
- Enjoy!
Tips
* Make sure to cover the popcorn kernels as soon as you can.
* Add two small pinches of ground cardamom to the carmel butter.
* Smoked Saffron Salt work well in this recipe.
* Add vanilla or other extracts in step number 2 if you like.
