Traditional Afghan Saffron Milk Tea for 1
Ingredients
- 3-6 strands of saffron
- 1/4 of a crushed cardamon pod
- 1-4 tablespoons honey
- 1 black tea bag
- .5 liter water
- 1-4 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Boil the water
- Get your favorite cup
- Add saffron, honey, cardamom, tea and optional items: fresh ginger, lemon, cinnamon, rose petals, fresh mint, other types of tea. *don't use all of these, 0-2 is preferred.
- Fill cup about 4/5th of the cup with hot water
- add 1-4 tablespoons of milk (depending on your taste) to the cup
- steep for 2-5 min.
- enjoy with baked goods: madeleines, scones, croissants or biscuit cookies.
Tips
Substitute cows milk for any type of milk; camel, goat, coconut, almond or oat. You could even use bogart or sour cream if needed. But you may need to add a little more honey.
